6.3 Magnitude Earthquake Halts Manila Railway Operations, No Major Damage Reported
On Thursday, a 6.3-magnitude earthquake hit the main island of the Philippines, causing a temporary suspension of railway operations in the capital city of Manila, according to authorities.
Fortunately, no casualties or significant damages have been reported thus far. The earthquake originated offshore at a depth of 10 kilometers (6.21 miles) and was felt in adjacent provinces, as confirmed by the Philippine seismology agency.
In response to the seismic activity, the transportation ministry announced the suspension of operations for the three elevated railway lines in Manila.
